Six Sites to See in Sydney

Our top six places to go/see/do whilst in SYDNEY...

Surprisingly this photo was not set up, we were all genuinely so appreciative and inspired by the beautiful Bondi views.

1. Bondi Beach:
Yes, we know, Bondi Beach is advertised in every tourist pamphlet about Sydney but it seriously is too good to miss and most definitely met our high expectations. Apart from being a pretty beach, the atmosphere at Bondi is amazing. Everyone is genuinely happy and those chilled surf vibes are totally rad and real. We took a dip in the ocean, watched some of the amazing surfers, strolled along the Cliffside walks, browsed the beachside boutiques and finished it off with some delicious fish and chips in a restaurant overlooking the seaside. If you are like us and are self diagnosed shop-a-holics, I would definitely recommend a detour to Bondi Junction shopping centre. It has an amazing selection of stores including a few highstreet favourites like, Zara, Sportsgirl, Dotti and Forever New but also a selection of high end brands.

Martin Place... home of Channel 7's Sunrise, oh and of course Lindt cafe.

2. Martin Place:
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Australian breakfast television, Martin place is the home of channel 7’s Sunrise. As regular viewers of the show, it was a must for us to visit the studios in Martin Place. However, even if you’re unfamiliar with the Sunrise crew this may still feature on your “Things to do in Sydney” list. If you would like to make your debut appearance on Australian television then this is the place to go! If you arrive just before 9.00am, the Sunrise anchors come outside to film the final part of the show so if you hang around outside you may just get in the shot! Now if you do decide to take a visit it is an early morning start (Sunrise broadcasts between 6.00am-9.00am). So, if you want a bit of a wake-me-up, there is a Lindt café just across from the studios. If you are a chocoholic like we are, you don’t want to give this place a miss!

Posing next to the Summer Bay Surf Life Saving vehicle was too good to resist.

3. Summer Bay:
Even if you are not a fan of the Aussie soapie Home and Away, visiting Palm Beach, known on the show as Summer Bay, is a must-do whilst in Sydney. The drive to Palm Beach from the CBD is a scenic forty minute drive. We decided to hire a car and were truly in awe as we passed picturesque hills, beautiful coastlines and stereotypical beachy Australian homes. When we arrived we divided our time between the river and the ocean. We went for a late morning stroll along the sand and took a leisurely walk along the river pier. I would definitely recommend anyone going to Sydney to take a trip to Palm Beach, it is perfect for anyone wanting to swap the busy streets of Sydney’s CBD to a quiet, pretty and very peaceful setting.

Two of Sydney's most iconic landmarks in one photo #bingo

4. Sydney’s Royal Botanical Garden and Mrs Macquaries Chair:
If you’re up for a bit of a walk, we would highly recommend taking a stroll through The Royal Botanic Garden. As well as seeing some of Australia’s native flowers in a quaint garden setting, you may also come across two of Sydney’s most iconic sites, the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. Just follow the signs and you’ll find yourself the perfect setting for a photo opportunity (just like the one above )! If you decide you want to go for a longer walk (especially if you have been indulging a bit too much at Lindt café!), we suggest you take the path up to Mrs Macquaries Chair. Here you will also be able to view the Opera House and Bridge from another angle so be sure to keep your camera close by!

Shopping til' we dropped #literally

5. Shopping:
You can’t go to Sydney and NOT do a bit of shopping (in our case a bit more than a bit). Coming from the opposite side of the country where the shopping is...well...not the best, visiting Westfield Sydney, the Queen Victoria Building and Westfield Bondi Junction opened our eyes to the possibility of shopping til’ you really do drop. The first store we visited was of course Topshop. Unfortunately, our state is yet to have the presence of a Topshop store. So, we were super excited to finally be able to visit a store and not just purchase the clothes from our computer screens. We managed to visit the store four times whilst in Sydney and found something new to purchase every time! #obsessed. We could talk about our Sydney shopping experience for hours but we will let you find out more soon in a Sydney haul post.

Those seagulls make great models (was not intentional).

6. Darling Harbour:
Day, night or anywhere in between, there’s always something to do in Darling Harbour. We spent most nights here as we loved the vibe of the place. If you’re looking for a bite to eat there are plenty of restaurants and snack spots around here. Grab a burger from the iconic Hard Rock Café before you watch a film at the world’s biggest IMAX theatre. Once the film is over, you can sip your favourite Frappuccino from Starbuck’s (which is just a few doors down) whilst watching the paddle boats float along the harbour. What more could you want? Darling Harbour has it all.
